There’s a great, old expression that “character is doing the right thing when no one is looking”.
Anyone who knows Steve Rich personally knows he’s not one looking for accolades or recognition for doing a good deed — but it was great to see the effort to support the area’s first-responders and healthcare workers on the front line of the pandemic noticed in the press.
The story behind TankQue itself, often called ‘the mother of all BBQ grills’, is one of ingenuity and a sense of giving.
It was constructed from old, abandoned underground heating oil tanks that Steve and company remove, then repair any damage to the surrounding soil.
Instead of rotting in a landfill somewhere, these tanks were forged together to create over 50 square feet of cooking space that combines a wood-burning pizza oven, rotisserie, a smoker and more. It is truly the ultimate grilling monster.
The Steve Rich Group makes the TankQue available free of charge to worthy causes for fundraisers and charity events, and while it may be hard to find one more worthy than the April 25th event in Park Ridge, NJ, groups and organizations are encouraged to make use of it. Just it’s presence makes the event a memorable one — and the food is delicious beyond description.
Forming the Steve Rich Group are his three companies: Steve Rich Environmental Contractors, which are experts in residential and commercial heating oil tanks, HOLES Infrastructure Solutions, a asphalt and concrete contractor, and Versatile Cones, a patented re-thinking of the common safety cone that should have been thought of 50 years ago!
